Page Blanking

What is it?

Simply put, page blanking is when one wiki user removes all the text on a page, leaving it blank (hence the name).

In most occasions, page-blanking is considered to be vandalism, and (if repeated) can be met with such penalties as a banning from the Urban Dead wiki.

Who does this?

Page blanking can be done for a variety of reasons, though most (if not all) of these reasons are not to be considered as appropriate.

Some new editors blank pages that they have created thinking that this will delete them. If this is the case, Speedy Deletions is the place for the page. There is a criteria set aside for it (Crit 7).

My page has been blanked! What do I do?

Calm down. Thanks to the nature of the UD wiki, page blanking can be easily remedied.

To revert the blanking, go into the History tab at the top of the screen. It's the one next to the edit tab. From there, you'll notice that the two most recent edits (assuming the last constructive edit and the blanking) will have a selector next to them. Click on the Compare Selected Versions button and you'll be taken to a comparison of the last two edits.

The one on the left is the constructive, the one on the right is the blanking. The next step is to click the Undo link above the blanking edit. After that, its just a case of saving the page and its reverted.

You can also revert by copy and pasting the content of the previous edit onto the page and saving that.

What if I am the blanker?

Don't be a jerk. People put plenty of hard work into their pages. If you don't like what's on there, then ask either the page's creators or the SysOps for the offending material to be removed.
