Lachryma

My user page?! Me?!

aka, rants on Linux, layouts, sigs, and other random stuff

Oh, you like my page? Well, I like it too. And your talk page is very confusing, I think I screwed it up...--Lachryma 02:56, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Not at all, it's in alphabetical order and everything. But hey, I like pages that look nice. Have you seen Wikipedia's user pages and templates? They suck some serious ass.--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:57, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
The beautiful irony that you should say that...Have you ever looked at the mod's pages? Most of them say they stole their code from Wikipedia...As some would say, "lol"--Lachryma 05:00, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Well I borrowed my code from Xoid's page.. well Gage did that for me actually, then I built on it and pretty much changed it all. how about you? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:05, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Look at this, under 'Page layout' at the bottom. Anyway, I stole learned about code from this guy's page.--Lachryma 05:12, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I like bob's page - It's really well done, although I think all of the boxes makes too many lines and clutters up the screen. What resolution are you running at? (I'm running 1680*1050) --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:15, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
No, did you read it? He said he stole his stuff from Xoid, who stole it from...blah blah, until he gets to Wikipedia! All ur codes belongs to Wikipedia! And my resolution is at a mere 1280 by 800.--Lachryma 05:20, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Ha, right I didn't know that. Hey, 1280*800 isn't too bad. Are you running a lappy? Say, a 13.3" lappy?--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:24, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
His exact words are
"Bob stole his page layout from Brizth, Cyberbob240, and Xoid, who stole it from Mia Kristos, who stole it from the Wikipedia, who stole it from who-knows-where. Since then, Matthewfarenheit, Rayvern, Darth Sensitive, Gage, Max Grivas, Jimbo Bob, Niilomaan, Kiki Lottaboobs, MrAushvitz, and Paradox244 have stolen Bob's layout. Bob is in the process of making his layout so convoluted and complicated that it would be impossible to steal, primarily by stealing more from the Wikipedia."
The last sentence always makes me laugh. And yes, I am on a laptop, since my real computer fething broke...--Lachryma 05:33, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Makes me laugh too. Mia's page is awesome, I wish she was more active on the wiki than just doing Red Rum related things. Another way to make it totally complicated would be to do some CSS. I wanted to do it, but no-one around here other than Mia and perhaps Bob seem to understand it. Ah, wiki code is also so much simpler than XHTML. That's for sure. And I like to say lappy. And I also have a few spare computers lying about in my room. Heh one is about 8 or 9 years old, I used it as a kid heaps (and it still runs!). Another is a 2.5yrs old AMD computer, however back then it was 'budget' - so you can imagine it sucks some real ass now. I'm gonna much around with it, chuck Ubuntu Linux on it or something. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:40, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I really like what she's done with Red Rum's page, it looks really impressive. And it's a good thing wiki code is simple, otherwise I'd be completely lost! And I can't believe you are bragging about all your computers! Damn you! Anyway, I know Linux is an operating system, but what the hell's 'Ubuntu'? It sounds like something from Africa...--Lachryma 05:46, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Meh, the point I was trying to make was that they are absolutely shit for computers. Actually you are very close there, Ubuntu is a version of Linux, and it's an African name. Forget what it means. Anyways, Ubuntu is supposed to be a fairly simple version of Linux, simple so you can still change whatever you want while having a lot of things already set up for you. And having nice visuals. There are a few things you can download into Ubuntu that make Vista's 'Aero' (fancy graphics) look like children's drawings. Just something to do and much around with while I am bored. Actually I think I might keep it in my room if the fans are quiet enough. Hey, I'm gonna edit my sig, tell me what you think of it, ay?--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:52, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
I have trouble imagining things that make 3D fething windows (!) seem like 'children's drawings', but I'll keep an open mind. And I'll be watching for your new sig!--Lachryma 05:54, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Well I saw a video of this guy mucking around with a Linux desktop, and rotated the entire thing as if it were a cube to another desktop, make the icons bounce around and hit each other, the windows were like total liquid when you moved them around, it was just insane. Insane and awesome. I doubt my tinker box could run that kind of stuff though. Oh, and my sig is screwing up the page. Hurrr. I'm trying to turn bold off the brackets and the underscore in my sig. Not working. Meh, I suppose my sig is pretty good anyways. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:59, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Why do you have an underscore? For the feth of it? Other then that though, it looks good...when it isn't breaking the wiki! Oh, and that linux stuff sounds absolutely lovely!--Lachryma 06:05, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
I have an underscore because it breaks it up and make it easier to read. Plus I like it. Do you know of Nine Inch Nails? They use a similar style with their letting for the album [WITH_TEETH] --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:12, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
How about this one - [Dux_Ducis] [__U!_¿]  ???? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:13, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
It looks better with the [] surrounding the upper icons, and I like it without the underscores. Oh, and sorry for changing your page's layout, but I was sick of stupid colons...oh well. And while I've heard of NIN, I don't listen to them.--Lachryma 06:19, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I suppose it does. I also made the icons a little more compact. Ah, NIN are awesome, you should. Actually a music dvd and new album are around the corner. Can't wait! Meh, that's fine - you didn't really change the layout really. Whenever it gets pushed across enough, use one colon less instead of more. Like I am doing now. Then it will eventually go back to no colons! --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:27, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
That's amazing...one day there shall be no colons! Anyway, maybe I'll check out NIN on YouTube or something...anyway, sleep calls, so laterz.--Lachryma 06:30, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

been up to?

aka, revisions of welcome newbie template and guidelines

Sooo, whatcha been up to in UD? Fight off any giant hordes recently? Sack any malls lately?--Lachryma 04:30, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Not really. My main human, Dux Ducis, is currently involved with the Survivor Security Zone. Not much really happening there to be honest. My zombies are generally ferals. Not much besides that really.... To be honest, I'm more involved on the wiki then in the game. Oh, I've also had my dash of PKing fun as well (but we won't talk about that one now ;). Maybe one day. PS- please use colors that are pleasing to the eye and that will generally fit in with my current color scheme. I just hate jarring colors. Not your fault really, just a little irritant of mine. Not saying you can't change the colors, just use nice ones that go well. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 11:21, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
So, do you also cycle the suggestions page as well? Wow, that's pretty good of you. I'm personally involved in the location pages project.--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 11:42, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh yeah, I forgot you protect the SSZ...well, if you're bored, the Blackmore Building could use some protecting...Sorry about the lime, I wanted to change up the colors (change is good!), but I didn't know what went with gray...so I randomly picked a color from Web colors. Sorry! And hell no, I don't cycle the suggestions. Booooring. I did a touch of location work (to save some stuff from speedy deletions) but the coding was tedious and annoying. I mostly stick to helping random newbies for my wiki karma.--Lachryma 14:34, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Right, well I thought you did. Anyhow, we need people welcoming newbies to the UD wiki. I think that we need futher clarification for the suggestions page, ie too many newbies are submitting new suggestions without first putting them on the talk page. Hurrr it annoys me. This is also the source of the huge amount of kill (and spam) votes (well, not so much spamming now). Anyhoo, I was at Blackmore when the whole fighting began, but grew bored. It's a great place for getting heaps of xp though. DNA scanning all the way! I might come back to Blackmore soon though... --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 02:41, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Then me and the other zombies alts of GC can eat you! Barhah! Oh, and that's absolutely correct about those poor newbies...perhaps the 'welcomenewbie' template could link to a page concisely stating how to do Suggestions stuff, that would be better then all that "Dos And Don'ts", rules rules rules stuff that we got now...--Lachryma 02:47, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Haha, cool well I have a few zombie alts as well. Zambah are mad. And yeah, I think we need a revision of the 'welcomenewbie' template. When I first saw it, it seemed too long to me, at least too long to read in my first few sittings of the UD wiki (but then I was a good boy and eventually read it). I think we really need an executive summary of the current template, along with a few links, in regards to templates, page layouts (make some templates for 'em) and of course the suggestions and Talk:suggestions pages. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 08:36, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I read that template when I was first given it, but I knew most of the stuff since I had been wandering around the wiki for a while before I made an account...but it sounds like you got an excellent project to work on and then brag about! (*cough* mod bid *cough*)--Lachryma 23:06, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I think I'll ask around to see if anybody else has some ideas. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:25, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Hopefully/maybe people will notice your question on the Talk:Project Welcome/Welcomenewbie page...if not, I have some friends around here that also like helping newbies, and they'd be happy to help out. So we want a concise version of the existing template, along with links to new pages explaining the things we gloss over in more detail? As well as a link to a new page summing up new suggestion stuff?--Lachryma 23:40, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Pretty much. I think linking to pages with more detail is a better idea. I also think that the suggestion submission rules are a little long and complicated. However, I think that it will have to stay that way. Why? Because submitting stuff is (at least for a newbie). --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:43, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, and also I copied the raw welcomenewbie template into my sandbox, be my guest in mucking around with it (however, clearly not the alterations below it under a new heading, with ==== title ==== size. Thanks. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:45, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I have a new idea: How about I put my comments like this, and you put your comments with one colon? Anyway, I'm not talking about changing the suggestion rules (they are fine), but having a new page summing up said rules and going through a quick tutorial: Here's the suggestion template, don't touch the "|"s, but instead of this you should put your idea with the suggestion discussion template, and then put it on Talk Suggestions, blah blah, and basically walk them through everything. The link on the template could be: Thinking of making a new suggestion? Click here!.--Lachryma 23:51, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Sure, no problem. Good ideas. (and ok, you put your suggestions the way you want them, I'll format them the way I like. Is that ok?) --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:02, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Yes, a compromise to deal with my prejudiced hate for colons! Yay! Anyway, I also suggest we cut that "Talk page" feth down to one line with a link (it could be a glossary category called "Talk Pages"), as the talk thing is the longest part of the template.--Lachryma 00:06, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, looking over it I think that is certainly the first place to start. I think we should just have a definition to *what talk pages are used for, *[here] is a link for further guidelines, *and some users have their own guidelines on how to comment of their pages. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:13, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
I also want to make a new section for editing your user page, and making it look pretty, however I think that will be for later :) --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:17, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

That talk page stuff sounds good. And the link can have the current things that are on the template, plus a touch more. And the user page thing sounds ambitious yet do-able!--User:Lachryma 01:17, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

deeppink|Ridley-fething-bank

aka, cartoon characters, bragging rights

Well, I don't feel that my small group could take and hold Blackmore, so we'll settle for cleaning out a random building of some sort...it's for bragging rights!--Lachryma 23:16, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Oh, I think every group needs to hold a building in Ridleybank for bragging rights, even if it is only once. Sadly, it used to be more of a challenge though... --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:28, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Um...I don't know about that...there's a lot of zeds in the 'bank. And thanks for the South park thingy! I can't believe you didn't put some rats in there though! Yeah, it's cool though...not quite sure what I'll do with it, but I'll think of something...--Lachryma 23:31, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
I just have them on my main page, so users have a vague idea to what my characters look like. It's fun though! --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:35, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
So you made that yourself? You should make comics too! Yeah, I'll probably put it on my page too.--Lachryma 23:42, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Have a look at the link below the images. Well, yeah I did do it, but I didn't draw it or anything. I used a South Park comic tool. It's totally awesome. Really fun too. Just printscreen, paste into paint, cut, and save as jpg when done. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:46, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
That site's really cool...interesting...--Lachryma 23:56, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Indeed, I hear about it ages ago on a podcast. Fun fun. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:58, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
What the...well, I hit "printscreen" but I have no idea where it saves this elusive picture...--Lachryma 19:36, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Ok, open up ms paint, and press ctrl+v to paste. Then crop it and resize it using the tools. I'm sure you'll figure it out. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:42, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Yay, thanks for the help!--Lachryma 00:22, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Template...

Thank you! I won't put it on my page, cuz I have an absolute limit on how many templates I can put up, but know that I noticed and am honored!--Lachryma 20:45, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Fething Suggestions

That's a pretty good idea. I imagine you would propose it on the Talk:Suggestions page for people to vote/discuss?--Lachryma 14:10, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Already have here. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:24, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

This is Sparta!

Woo, I just saw 300! That's a lovely and great movie. Anyway, I haven't talked with you in a while. Whatcha been doing in UD? I led a failed expedetion to bring tanning beds to the 'bank (in response to the RRF's jokes about the undead looking for a good tan) but I'm sure you've been doing waaaay cooler stuff...--Lachryma 05:15, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Ya I heard about your failed expedition. Hehe, got munched on ay? Hmm, anyways I've been bored trying to get a revive, so I'm focusing on a lot of wiki stuff. Thanks for the edits you did on the signature section. Ummm, yeah that's about it. Oh, have a look at the bottom of talk:suggestions page. I've made a small proposal down there. Unfortunately, here in Australia we are either slow to get a movie out (unless it is a world premier) or we don't get it until it goes onto dvd. I'm looking forward to this movie though, it sounds awesome! I've studied a heap of history (in high school it was half of my subjects) and that battle in particular is my favorite. Even today they have that statue there to commemorate the fallen Spartan soldiers - the kill rate was reportedly 30:1, Spartan's way. Man, they kick ass. Too bad their society's values marginalized and suppressed women, democracy, emotions and was very utilitarian in focus. Ahem.. that's my little rant over. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:23, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Woo, the wiki! Anyway, 300 is worth it. And interestingly, the queen is strong willed and almost the power behind the throne, so she's pretty cool...hell, she could probably boss me around! In the first trailer released, you see the king look to her (she nods slightly) before killing the Persian emissary...that's how it should be!--Lachryma 05:48, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Haha, well I don't think that she could push you around... no way Lach. But seriously, tell me what you think about the signature walk though and comment on the little discussion on [[talk:suggestions] which has not started yet. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:53, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Ooo, I don't know about that...she's pretty tough...Anyway, a mini-rant about realism probably won't endear you to many people, but hopefully they'll ignore that and stick to the main part of your suggestion...As for sigs, it looks pretty good, but let me take another glance at it first.--Lachryma 05:58, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay, on second thought it's fethed to the nine hells. Besides the concerns many have about templated sigs, you don't say what to do with that code! You don't say "Make a page called...", you don't say "Put this Subst stuff here"! It's too vague!--Lachryma 06:03, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
That's because it's only an addition to what is already on the sig page. Have a look for templated signatures under help. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:45, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh...well then there should a link to that or something...Ooo, gonna join GC, huh? How come?--Lachryma 18:16, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Why...

...did you want a knife?--Lachryma 00:34, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Because the only skill my scientist has is Necrotech employment (can see NT buildings from the street, can use DNA extractor). That is it. The knife also has the highest accuracy for a non-skilled character, and my avatar is holding a knife. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:37, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Uh...you can get XP from a DNA extractor...but hey, you want a knife, then go for it!--Lachryma 00:40, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh yes, I realise that. however, it sucks when there are only like 10 zeds in the whole suburb, and the next one over. And they have all been scanned. Every last one already. And I can't see who's wounded, so I've wasted heaps of AP trying to heal people who are already at full health. Methinks Diagnosis will be my first skill after free running. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:45, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Ah, the bad old days of being a low level medic...--Lachryma 00:47, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Official Welcome To Ghetto Cow

I kinda forgot to do this, but anyway, as a member of GC, feel free to add to our travel journal and "Current Activities" section on our page. Also, I do hope you are heading up to Yagoton in the near future. And welcome to Ghetto Cow! Here, have a rat:

Rat-ah-tat-tat.jpg Here, have a rat!
Lachryma has given Dux Ducis a rat for joining Ghetto Cow and stuff like that!

--Lachryma 16:41, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

You're supposed to put your rat on your page! Now I'm sad....--Lachryma 05:46, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Done Lach. I've been a bit busy of late. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:27, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh, sorry to bother you. Good luck doing whatever it is!--Lachryma 07:09, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Mayor!

How many skulls of the innocent did Karloth Vois offer you? Oh, and your talk page is getting all screwy from the hundreds of templates on it.--Lachryma 01:58, 9 April 2007 (BST)

Hi --SirensT RR 04:39, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey back. That's probably the shortest comment I've seen left on anyone's page before.--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, any reason for the change of name from Mia Kristos to Sirens? (I think Sirens sounds cooler, but that's just my opinion)--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:51, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
More people know me by this name. *shrugs* --SirensT RR 06:22, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Matthew Fahrenheit

maroon|Sysop status bid

You're right that there's not a concrete system, but precedent says that if you don't get a clear majority of vouchs you won't get promoted. Also, that same page says that "Once the two weeks are up, the Bureaucrat will review the community discussion and make a decision based upon it. The user will be notified of the status of their request, and will be promoted should it appear that the community is willing to accept them as a System Operator". Don't misunderstand me: maybe Xoid wakes up, in his drouzyness takes the green smelly thing that has been in the refrigerator for ages and then promotes you, but it's not a great possibility, not would it be very respectful of the different concerns that were shown in the bid.

As I said, your efforts would have been better invested withdrawing the bid early on and starting another one by now than by prolonging the current bid and your frustration. And I understand that you didn't prolong it in purpose, but still... --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 17:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Then what do you suggest I do now? Are you hinting that submitting another one so soon would be bad? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 21:42, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeah sorry about that lol... Yes i did copy but i do like the scheme and have no real need to change it. To be honest, does the bother you? If it does i can change it. i dont really need help with it as much as i dont want to learn. Sorry for being blunt but, thats the way it is. Look at it this way, Someone liked your page enough to use it :D Zaneus 05:46, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Well do you want me to change it? Also dont group me with people who are un-original copy-cats, this is only temporary, when i find the time when im not doing somthing else i'll change it anyways, but if it bothers you il do it now. Zaneus 05:54, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
I will change it because you asked me to but im still. One thing to remember. Its just a game, And its just a template... get over it. No need to take it so seriously.

Ok, ya happy?

I fixed it alittle bit but im sorry of your template happened to be exactly what i needed. Check on my main page, the south park zombie thing. I did that before i had the wiki page. I was sifting through ideas ofr templates and saw your and it was perfect. It fits with the zombies look and was the look i was going for. By the way i made your maroon line black and 5 times bigger... See? different. Sorry forgot to sign, as i said I'm a little busy atm. Zaneus 06:12, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Dude that's fine, just also try to remember to put your comments under your own heading next time - there are short, simple and clear instructions at the top of the page. Read 'em next time ok? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 13:30, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

maroon|Signature

The picture for my signature does link to my user page. Did it not redirect to my user page when you clicked on it? Oh, and unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of play Gears on a projector; it would be quite nice though. --ZombieSlay3rSig.png 21:34, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

A bunch of the color templates of your page are broken, if you haven't noticed. Archiving would be a good idea right now.  ;) --ZombieSlay3rSig.pngT 02:03, 9 April 2007 (BST)
