MIC Etiquette

Thank you for your recent contribution to the Mall Information Center! However, please remember to use the "user=" field to sign your posts there. This keep all the entries looking uniform and makes the MIC easier to read. If the "user=" is not there, simply add a | (shift+backslash) after your comment and put user= on the next line, followed by your signature. I've fixed it for you this time, but if you have any questions about this matter feel more than welcome to contact me on my talk page. Have a great day! --Pedentic 02:46, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

The guide we all wish we wrote

Brilliant! I was laughing my a$$ off... And of course it's totally correct.

I have only one minor critique. I challenge the conventional widsom that you absolutely have to get Free Running right away. If there are VSB buildings to get into (and face it, in most Green and Yellow and even many light Red burbs, there are some) then grab a secondary XP farming skill. Your levelling will go up much faster in the long and the short run when you have 2 options instead of one. So, if you're a Fireman, you can get Diagnosis first. If you're an NT Labcoater, you can get it for 75 XP and making getting that next 150 for Free Running a lot easier. Well... okay, actually... sure... the only thing you should ever get first other than Free Running is Diagnosis. But... anyway... getting Diagnosis then Free Running can work. I've made it work, and I've seen it work with friends of mine I have helped. That's all...

But, again, great guide, thanks!! --WanYao 00:10, 3 September 2007 (BST)

Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed the guide. While you certainly make a good point about free running, I still have to stand by my comments: if you're a true newbie, you really need that skill first. Diagnosis is a great one to have as soon as possible, and if you're a slightly more veteran UD player you can make it work - but you just can't even get in to most hospitals without free running. For the true newb, the ability to move freely is still slightly more important than the XP farming skills, if only so that they can hopefully avoid death just that much longer.
Thanks again, though!  :) --evilbob 00:41, 6 September 2007 (BST)
Perhaps... perhaps getting F/R is more important than another XP farming skill. But it depends where you are. There are many suburbs, particularly in the south, where a VSB hospital is very easy to find... But I'm nitpicking here, and basically you're right... Barricade plans are followed only in very organised suburbs: many of those exist, many more do not... --WanYao 02:52, 6 September 2007 (BST)

I agree with WanYao -- the guide is brilliant. Dead on the mark, and hilarious to boot. "And they'd like a little advice that's not over two years old"...pretty much sums things up. :) --Jen 00:13, 30 May 2008 (BST)
